The Fyreza Santoku Kitchen Knife is a handmade kitchen knife made of 1.4116 stainless steel with a blade length of 16.5 cm, a blade height of 5 cm, a total length of 29 cm, and weighing only around 160 g. 58 HRC, handle made of Padauk and Bocote, delivered in a wooden box.
Lightweight, sharp, easy to care for
The Santoku shape with a slightly curved blade can slice and rock: vegetables, herbs, meat, fish. At 160g, it is the lightest Santoku in our range and the right knife for anyone who wants a handmade knife for everyday use without worrying about patina or oil.
1.4116 Steel, stainless
1.4116 is the standard knife steel of the German blade industry: stainless, tough, uncomplicated. Wash, dry, done. It doesn't hold its edge quite as long as N690 or carbon steel, but it can be sharpened again on a whetstone in a minute.
Handle made of Padauk and Bocote
Two precious woods, combined by hand: Padauk, a warm reddish wood with lively grain, and Bocote, dark with distinctive striping. No two handles are alike.

What steel is the Fyreza Santoku kitchen knife made from?
The Fyreza Santoku kitchen knife is made from 1.4116 stainless steel – a proven German chromium steel valued in the knife industry for its combination of sharpness, corrosion resistance, and ease of care. It is significantly easier to maintain than carbon steel, does not need oiling, and tolerates contact with moist foods without problems. Ideal for anyone looking for an everyday knife that requires little maintenance.
What is the difference between 1.4116 steel and Böhler N690?
Both steels are stainless and suitable for kitchen knives, but they differ in their positioning. 1.4116 steel is a proven, everyday chromium steel with good sharpness and easy maintenance – ideal for daily use. Böhler N690 is a premium steel with higher hardness (58 HRC) and finer grain, allowing for an even sharper and longer-lasting edge. The Santoku kitchen knife with 1.4116 is the easier-to-maintain, more beginner-friendly choice.
What is the Santoku kitchen knife best suited for?
The Fyreza Santoku kitchen knife, with its 16.5 cm blade and Santoku-like blade shape, is excellent for cutting vegetables, meat, and fish. The broad, flat blade allows for efficient chopping and mincing, while the Santoku geometry permits precise push cuts with minimal effort. It is the ideal everyday knife for anyone looking for a versatile, lightweight kitchen knife for daily kitchen tasks.
What makes the Padouk and Bocote wooden handles special?
Padouk and Bocote are two of the most exotic and visually impressive handle woods in knife making. Padouk stands out with its intense reddish-brown color and lively, high-contrast grain – a real eye-catcher. Bocote is dark, with fine golden-brown lines and a dense, stable structure. Both woods are hard, durable, and feel comfortable in the hand. Since each handle is made from natural wood, every knife is truly unique.
How do I properly care for the Santoku kitchen knife?
The Fyreza Santoku kitchen knife should be cleaned by hand with warm water and mild dish soap after each use and immediately wiped dry. The dishwasher should be avoided – the heat and aggressive detergents will damage the wooden handle in the long term. Occasionally rub the wooden handle with wood oil or beeswax to keep it supple. Thanks to the 1.4116 stainless steel, the knife is otherwise very easy to maintain.
How do I sharpen the Santoku kitchen knife?
The 1.4116 steel sharpens well on a whetstone. Waterstones with grits of 1000–2000 are recommended for basic sharpening and 3000–6000 for refinement. For everyday use, a ceramic sharpening rod is sufficient to regularly align the edge. Since the steel has good edge retention, resharpening is only occasionally necessary – regular stropping with the sharpening rod maintains sharpness over time.
How long is the blade and how heavy is the knife?
The blade of the Fyreza Santoku kitchen knife is 16.5 cm long, 5 cm high, and 2.5 mm thick. The total length is 29 cm, and the weight is 160 g. These dimensions correspond to a classic Santoku format – compact enough for precise work, large enough for all common cutting tasks in the kitchen. The weight of 160 g ensures a comfortable balance without fatigue during prolonged use.
Is the knife rust-proof and dishwasher-safe?
The 1.4116 steel is stainless and corrosion-resistant – so the knife tolerates contact with moist foods and acidic ingredients without problems. However, it is not dishwasher-safe: the high heat and aggressive detergents in the dishwasher will permanently damage the wooden handle and can dull the blade in the long run. Hand washing is therefore always the better choice for a high-quality kitchen knife.
